What is CEREC?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC takes faster pictures of your teeth at higher resolutions, identifying how a crown might fit and immediately creating an impression. We can place your new dental crown in one appointment, eliminating the need for a temporary crown.

Done in One Appointment
In the past, patients had to wait weeks for an off-site lab to create dental crowns. Fortunately, our dentists are always looking for ways to improve your experience as a patient, which is why they started using CEREC to streamline the dental crown procedure. A CEREC crown can be made in one appointment so you can leave our office smiling with confidence.
No Triggering Your Gag Reflex
Many people can’t tolerate pink impression putty because it triggers their gag reflex. Fortunately, our dentists use a slim hand-held device to take pictures of your teeth and gums. Not only are digital dental impressions less invasive than trays filled with goop, but they’re more accurate. The scanner takes precise digital impressions so we can create a same-day crown that fits perfectly over your tooth.
No Uncomfortable Temporary Crowns
At other dental offices, you’ll need to wear a temporary crown while you wait weeks for your permanent restoration to be made. Since a temporary crown must eventually be removed, a dentist can only use a weak adhesive to keep it on. As a result, you may have experienced a temporary crown falling out or not fitting perfectly in the past.
Our same-day dentists understand that temporary crowns are a hassle for patients, which is why they use CEREC. Since your crown is created and placed in one appointment, you can avoid the discomfort of a temporary crown.
Digital Impressions are Highly Precise
After we take impressions of your teeth, one of our dentists will start designing your dental crown right in front of your eyes using CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) software. Once they’re satisfied with the look and fit of your CEREC crown, they’ll send it to the milling machine in our office to be made.
Dental Crowns Feel Comfortable and Look Natural
We use CEREC to take highly precise impressions of your teeth and gums. The result is a that feels comfortable when you bite down and chew. We have a milling machine right in our office that will carve your crown out of a ceramic block. These ceramic blocks come in several shades. That way, we’re able to create a CEREC dental crown that looks natural and blends in with the rest of your smile.
Materials are Safe and Durable
Our CEREC same-day crowns are made of materials similar to that of your tooth’s natural enamel, making them a safe and effective choice for tooth restoration. These materials are even stronger in many cases than a natural tooth. If your crown does become damaged, however, we can easily repair or replace it in our office.
